Episode 4: How Improv Can Change Your Career + Your Personal Relationships
Thursday Dec 19, 2019
Thursday Dec 19, 2019
On this week's episode of The Local Table Podcast we’re chatting with a good friend of mine from my days at TOMS, Brian Nelson, about improv and how it can change not only your career but your personal relationships for the better. Brian is currently the Senior Admissions Producer and Operations Lead at General Assembly but he also leads business workshops through his business, Seriously Improv. Brian shares about how he got into improv and how it's helped him in making career moves and improve relationships with his co-workers and in his personal life. Brian shares more about what improv is and gives us tangible steps that we can implement into our own lives to help better our relationships and our jobs and how we can be more intentional in the conversations we're having with the people in our lives. Improv isn't about being funny it's about being intentional, knowing how to improvise authentically in conversations, invest in others, and have an attitude of "yes and"! Brian's main advice is to show up, be true to who you are, adapt to the surrounding that you're in, listen and invest in others. I hope that this week's conversation helps you to break out of your shell and allows you to learn how to truly invest in others personally and professionally. Enjoy, friends!
